Jimi Hendrix autograph sells for £5,800

At our auction on Friday, 4th April, 2024, a rare gem emerged from the past. In the form of a Jimi Hendrix autograph nestled within an old autograph book.

The autograph, procured by 15-year-old Shirley Hicks in 1967 during a Lincoln concert, exceeded expectations by fetching a winning bid of £5,800, surpassing its £2,300 asking price. Paul remarked that the signature was a "very good 1960s autograph by Jimi Hendrix plus Californians together with non-related autograph/school year book messages of the same period."

The autograph book, a time capsule of memories, bears witness to a young girl's joy, housing not only Hendrix's signature but also a heartfelt message from the legendary artist: "Love always and forever, Jimi Hendrix."

The authenticity of the precious find was carefully scrutinized and meticulously compared with other verified samples of Hendrix's autograph. The dedication and nostalgia encapsulated within the worn pages of the book resonated with collectors and fans alike, culminating in a successful auction that celebrated the magic of music history.

At Potters Auction Saleroom, every item holds a story waiting to be discovered, connecting the past with the present in a tapestry of memories and unique finds.
